Turkey's Foreign Ministry has summoned Swedish ambassador to convey the country's displeasure and launch a strong protest after a Kurdish group in Stockholm posted a disrespectful video against Turkey president Erdogan.

The envoy was summoned in Ankara. A day after the controversial video was posted, turkey lashed out at the Kurdish group as well as what it deemed a Stockholm soft response. Sweden's Foreign Minister, Tobias Bill Storm has condemned the video, saying the Stockholm supports an open debate about politics, but distances itself from threats and hatred against political representatives.

But that did not please anchora Erdogan's chief spokesperson tweeted we urge the Swedish authorities to take necessary steps against terrorist groups without further delay. The diplomatic spat is threatening to derail Sweden's efforts to join the NATO military alliance.

Sweden applied for membership of NATO after Russia's invasion of Ukraine and is trying to get Turkey to approve its application. Finland and Sweden signed a three way agreement with Turkey last year. That agreement aimed at overcoming ankra's objections of their membership of NATO. But after this latest incident, Turkey is fuming. Airdar's chief spokesperson tweeted that Sweden needs to keep the promises which it made in Madrid to join NATO, of which Turkey has been a member for 70 years.

It would be futile to expect Turkey to make any concessions in that regard. He further went on to say that Sweden authorities have not taken necessary steps against terrorism, as they have been claiming in recent days.
