House Republicans have long signaled that they will use their power in Congress to scrutinize the government. And after the House voted to launch an investigation into federal law enforcement and national security agencies, some of former Donald Trump's Sanchez allies will reportedly sit on main investigative committees.

As some of these Republican lawmakers even at times supported Donald Trump's efforts against the 2022 election results, several of these Republicans have landed seats on the oversight and accountability committees.

Democrats now say that the Republican led investigations is to undermine the ongoing investigations into Trump's misconduct, including around the 2021 assaults on the US. Capitol and to create more distractions ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Some think that the presence of Trump's most loyal MAGA Republicans on the investigation committee gives a sense that the former president still has underlying control over the party, even though he is out of the political spray, at least for now putting America at risk.
