War in Ukraine: Explosions shake Ukrainian capital city after missile warning

As the world is celebrating the new year's with fireworks. Russia has targeted the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, along with several other regions in the country. According to Ukrainian officials, russia has launched dozens of missiles towards cities across Ukraine.


Kiev's mayor has said there have been several blocks in the city causing damage. The latest attack has killed at least one person, while several others have been left injured. The attacks occurred two days after Russia carried out one of the largest airstrikes since the beginning of the war.

In the month of February. As Kiev began the new year's celebrations, people rushed to shelters amid arid sirens sounded at lunchtime. Emergency workers were sent to three districts hit by explosions.

Meanwhile, air defense has been activated across Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian army, the air defense has shot down twelve out of 20 missiles launched by Russia. The attacks come as Ukraine president, Volodymyr Zelensky, had warned russia could launch attacks to force the new year into darkness for Ukraine.
