Nepal Plane Crash: 15 foreign nationals and 4 cabin crew members among 72 on board passengers

Nepal. Now, two days after the plane crash that kills 72 people on board, the spotlight of the tragedy shifts to handling over of dead bodies of passengers to their families. The Napoleon authorities have started the process of returning the dead bodies, many of them badly charred to their relatives.


70 out of 72 passengers on board were confirmed dead, with one more body recovered today. The remaining two are also presumed dead with efforts underway around the accident side to find their bodies along with the flight data recorder.

The searchers have found the plane's cockpit voice recorder as well, scattered down in the 300 meters deep core. An analysis on what caused the crash is expected over the next few days. The twin engine ETR72500 aircraft operated by Nepal's Yeti Airlines, was completing a 27 minutes flight from the capital of Katmandu to the resort town of Fokra, 200 km towards the west.

It's still not clear what caused the crash, which took place less than a minute's flight from the airport in light wind and clear skies. Now, Nepal is home to eight of the world's 14 highest mountains, including Mount Everest.

It has a history of air crashes. Sunday's crash as Napoleon's deadliest since 1992.
