Member of Russia's private military seeks asylum in Norway

 A former commander in Russia's, Wagner private military company has fled to Norway and is now seeking asylum in the country. This comes amid reports of execution of those fighters who refused to participate in the war in Ukraine, 26 yearold Andre Medvedev was arrested for illegally crossing the border to Norway last week.


In an interview with a Russian activist, Medvedev said that he failed for his life after refusing to renew his service with the Wagner group, while his lawyer says that after crossing the border, he had sought out locals and asked that they call the police.

He also added that Medvedev was no longer in the police custody, he was at a safe place while his case is being analyzed, and that he was currently suspected of illegal entry into Norway. According to reports, he originally signed a four month contract in early July 2022, and his contract was extended without his consent.

He flared after witnessing the executions of those who refused to fight in Ukraine.
