US. Where car manufacturer General Motors has now reclaimed its top spot in the auto market. In US. It has beaten rival Toyota. It is meeting strong demand for cars and trucks despite disruptions in supply.


GMs posted sales of around two 2 million vehicles. It's higher than Toyota's 2.1 million units. Inventory shortages? They continued stemming from surging material costs and persistent chip crunch. It has halted manufacturing at many automakers in the US.

But GM is doing well. Asian brands, they were amongst the worst hit by the problem. Toyota still remains to be the tightest automaker in terms of inventory in the US.

Its sale of SUVs were down 8.6%, Other brands, including Hyundai, America, Kia Motors, Mazda and American Honda. They all posted drop in sales. Experts, however, remained concerned about price hikes by automakers. With inflation pressures and rising interest rates burdening sailor bikers this year.
