Digital media company BuzzFeed is going big on AI generated content. Reports say the company now plans to use Chat GPT creator Open AI to generate specific content for the site, including quizzes.
This marks the company's first step in greater content creation using the innovative learning engine inside Chat GPT. The development comes a month after the company announced that it would cut its workforce by about 12%, moving away from homegrown solutions to big league investment.
Microsoft has invested billions in OpenAI, the company that created Chat GPT. Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella said that the company is seeking more ways to commercialize the platform. Meanwhile, BuzzFeed has also inked a multi year deal with Meta for content creation.
Nasdaq reports that the deal is valued at $10 million. The company's stock is spiked as a result of the new deal and the announcement of the use of OpenAI's Chat GPT for content creation. BuzzFeed CEO says that human oversight will still matter in terms of providing ideas and inspire prompts.
BuzzFeed Fields shareholder enthusiasm was inspired by the new creative technology. Chat GPT has been enthusiastically embraced by students while creating tidal waves of distrust and concern among educators.
Teachers view the potential for plagiarism as just one potential threat here, not to mention pure avoidance of learning with Chat GPT.
